Within the project „Healthy aging and Dementia – better life“, eMS RORS-241, the new deparment – Centre for Dementia has been officially opened on 17th June 2021 in the Special Hospital for Psychiatric Disorders „Dr Slavoljub Bakalović“ Vršac.

Representatives from the local government, of the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania - Serbia Programme – Antenna in the Republic of Serbia, Autonomous Provice of Vojvodina Government, NGO, employees and from other parter institutions of SHPD Vršac attended the event. The Centre was officially opened by the Mayor of the City of Vršac, Mrs. Dragana Mitrović and by the Director of the SHPD Vršac, prim. dr. Tatjana Voskresenski.

Centre for Dementia spans on the area of 1000 square meters and has the capacity to accommodate and treat 30 patients suffering from Dementia.

Further implementation of the project will provide patients suffering from Dementia a higher quality and humane, multidisciplinary approach towards the elderly, in order to satisfy their physical, spiritual, cultural, educational and other social needs, aside from medical care.
