A Subsidy Contract was signed by the Special Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases “Dr Slavoljub Bakalović” Vršac and the representative of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Romania - Serbia Programme. This is the first Contract of the new Call for proposals to be signed, financed by the IPA II fund of the European Union, the official signing of the Contract was attended by the Project’s manager and the Director of the SHPD Vršac, Tatjana Voskresenski, the Chief of the Joint Secretariat of the programme, Anca Lolescu and the Resita’s Hospital manager, Ioan Waldemar Murgu and mr Silviu Tinca, Resita Hospital’s representative.

The name of the Project is “Healthy Aging and Dementia – Better Life”, eMS code RORS-241. The overall project value is 1.175.800,00 EUR, out of which the European Union provides 85 %, while the remaining 15 % of the projected expenses are considered own contribution by the project partners, which they will provide during the course of 24 months of the project’s duration. The Special Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases “Dr Slavoljub Bakalović” Vršac is the lead partner in this project which will be implemented with another, partner institution – The County Hospital for Urgent medicine from Resita.

The main goal of the project “Healthy aging and Dementia – Better Life” is the improvement of quality of life for persons suffering from dementia in the cross-border region, through cooperation of medical experts (neurology and psychiatry), in order to improve provided services through prevention, diagnostics, treatment and patient care.

One of the more significant activities in the project is the construction of the new department within the SHPD Vršac – Alzheimer’s centre, with an area of 1000 sqm and a patient capacity of 30 beds. The building will be constructed in accordance with the standards for medical structures of the Republic of Serbia.
